KRS Chapter 311B requires those practicing in radiation therapy professions to hold a license with KBMIRT.
In accordance with 201 KAR 46:040, eligibility includes the completion of an accredited educational program and passing the national examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). The educational program must be accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), or other accrediting agencies recognized by the ARRT and approved by the Board, pursuant to 201 KAR 46:030.

Temporary Kentucky Radiation License: Radiation Therapy
An individual that has completed an accredited educational program, but has yet to achieve certification, may apply for a Temporary License, in accordance with 201 KAR 46:045. The active Temporary License authorizes the individual to practice within their full scope of practice for which they are licensed for a period of up to one year while the individual is awaiting successful passing of the national certification exam. The Temporary License cannot be renewed or extended. Upon active certification, the Temporary License may be converted to a permanent license prior to expiration.
